Students built a special bus stop for a child in a wheelchair

LIFE STORIES

Studying social sciences in high school is very important, especially now that you are doing what you are doing. But more practical and creative items are just as important.

For example, Westerly High School teachers in Rhode Island already know this. To stimulate students’ creativity, design and construction courses are specifically designed for them to see their creations come to life before their very eyes.

But one day the design class decided to work on a very ambitious project: build a bus stop to help a classmate in need. It was a noble and ambitious gesture that immediately attracted the attention of the public.

This is the heart of Rhode Island, where teacher Dan McKenna has been finding other ways to stimulate student creativity for over 20 years.

In the design class, participants were able to complete many projects during class. The professor’s projects not only introduce students to “basic building skills”, but are also important for learning how to be part of a larger community and how to help people in their daily lives.

When this extraordinary teacher’s idea went around the world, the design class one day received a special email. Local dad Tim Killam had a special request for a design class.

In September, Tom posted a photo on social media explaining his problem. But the weeks go by without help. And as soon as the teacher received the letter from the young father, he and his class immediately began planning.
