A group of researchers in the framework of the “Abandoned Great Britain” project recently found another attraction in the English outback.
This original structure in the photo in the form of a giant boot was found in the wild near the cliff. The participants of this project do not disclose the coordinates of their finds as a matter of principle, fearing vandals.
The poem “The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe” was written in 1794, although its author is unknown. It tells the story of a mother of many children who lives with her children in a shoe house.
In a later version, it was published in the book “Christian Mother Goose”, in an edited form.
Only the last line has changed. If the first version reported that the mother “whacked the deaf children and sent them to sleep”, then in 1901 the old woman no longer whipped her children before going to bed, but “happily kissed them”, apparently, over time, the methods of education softened even more.
But unfortunately, the building was found in a very deplorable state. The facade of the “boot” is well preserved. The wooden roof and interior decoration of the house are simply dangerous for casual tourists.
Members of the group posted the photo on their Facebook page and turned to users for help to learn the history of the house.
Interestingly, the feedback from subscribers is divided.
Some followers report that a woman used to live here, around the 1950s, while others claim that the starter house is actually just part of a children’s theme park.
As the researchers found out, they were both right. If it was interesting, please share it with your friends and family !
