Magazines have extensively covered the subject of Céline Dion’s health ever since the singer noticeably shed a significant amount of weight, prompting concerns from her fans who noticed a departure from her former self.

However, she responded by urging critics to let her be, as she expressed in an interview with The Sun, stating, “If I like it, I don’t want to talk about it. Don’t bother.

Don’t take a picture. If you like it, I’ll be there. If you don’t, leave me alone.”

More recently, a spokesperson for Céline Dion disclosed that she is grappling with muscle spasms, which have impacted her ability to perform on stage.

Coupled with the disruptions caused by the pandemic in many people’s lives, Dion was forced to cancel numerous concert dates in Las Vegas, including those scheduled for November of the previous year and a subsequent run from January 19 to February 5, 2022.

The official statement read, “Celine has been experiencing severe and persistent muscle spasms which are preventing her from performing. Her medical team continues to evaluate and treat her. However, the symptoms she is experiencing are prohibiting her from participating in the ongoing rehearsals for the new show.”

Dion herself took to Instagram to express her sadness about the postponed concerts and her health struggles. She revealed, “Recently, I’ve been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called the stiff-person syndrome, which affects something like one in a million people.

While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what’s been causing all of the spasms that I’ve been having.

Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”

She continued by stating her determination to recover, “I’m working hard with my sports medicine therapist every day to build back my strength and my ability to perform again, but I have to admit it’s been a struggle.

All I know is singing. It’s what I’ve done all my life and it’s what I love to do the most. I miss you so much. I miss seeing all of you, being on the stage performing for you.”

Dion’s heartfelt message concluded with gratitude to her fans, “I want to thank you so much for your encouraging wishes and love and support on my social media. This means a lot to me.

Take care of yourselves. Be well. I love you guys so much, and I really hope I can see you again real soon.”

Céline Dion has a deep connection with Las Vegas, which she considers her second home. Her association with “Sin City” began in 2003 when she commenced a four-year Las Vegas residency that became a resounding success, grossing over $385 million.

Later, she returned to the Las Vegas stage for another residency at Caesars Palace, achieving a world record with 1,141 performances, according to Billboard. She also holds records for the two highest-grossing residencies of all time.

Unfortunately, due to her health issues, Dion had to postpone her tour originally set to begin in May 2022, as well as delay her Las Vegas residency.

Her previous Las Vegas residencies alone earned her $680 million, and her estimated net worth hovers around $800 million. In 2019, she earned $37 million.

While not being on stage has impacted her income, Dion is grateful for the opportunity it has given her to spend more time with her children.
