The fishermen aboard the crab boat “Northern Swan” were a few miles from the peninsula in Canada. Mallory Harrigan, Clif Russell and Alan Russell spotted something strange 4 miles offshore.
They noticed something on a small mushroom-shaped iceberg drifting helplessly in the sea.
The crew at first thought it was a small baby seal.
But in fact it turned out to be a polar fox drifting on an iceberg.
Mallory Harrigan thought he was probably stuck there looking for food.
They lured the poor frightened animal into the boat.
They gave him chips and crackers, but he didn’t eat anything until he regained consciousness, then they gave him sausages.
Back on earth, the fox was released into its natural habitat. Their simple act of kindness on the part of the crew saved his life.
