Due to their reputation for aggression, pit bulls are among the most maligned breeds.
Ironically, after being used as baits in the infamous doggie fights, they are also the most tortured and frightened pups for the same reasons.
However, no one can fathom the anguish and agony that poor tiny Khalessi, a 2-year-old who weighed just 20 pounds when she was discovered, went experienced.
When the severely hurt doggie was abandoned in a family’s backyard, Orange County Animal Control received a call.
Eventually, as if she hadn’t endured enough from what they had done to her, she was dumped into the garbage.
Poor you! The images of him scream for themselves; whomever did it to him undoubtedly had a stony heart and soul indeed.
The level of extreme anger shown toward a defenseless animal is horrifying and abhorrent.
She was missing half of her face when they discovered her. She had no nasal cavity, and a previous injury had caused her to lose some of her upper jaw.
She also had limited capability of her back legs and prior pelvic fractures.
He had severe issues with his nose, nostrils, and sinus cavity. She had lost all facial features.
In addition, he was quite underweight and had injuries to his rear legs.
As soon as they learned where she was, they called the pet animal shelter “Passion 4 Pit Rescue,” where one of the members, Stephanie, was happy to take Khalessi in and ensure she got the treatment she needed to survive.
He would need difficult dental repair since some of his teeth had visible roots from the area of lacking bone in his jaw.
However, his situation was so devastating that he still had a bit of a way to go and numerous operations and treatments to complete before he could walk again.
Fortunately, a team of physicians addressed his face and cleared out any cardiac abnormalities.
His respiratory issues were eased, and he also put on weight.
Despite her terrible history, Khalessi has always been friendly and thankful of everyone who has taken care of her, according to volunteers who believe she may have formerly been a bait dog.
Although a portion of his face is gone, he has an amazing capacity for loyalty and has a lot of love to give.
After undergoing many surgeries on his rear legs and certain areas of his face, he is recovering quite well.
And the strongest inspiration for veterinarians to persevere and place their entire faith in her has been her unwavering spirit.
She had gone through so much, she had earned the right to put everything on the line for her to see her smile.
In spite of all that has occurred to her, it is reassuring to know that she is in capable hands and that her life will now be filled with the love and attention she deserves rather than ending fatally.
She has a long way to go before she can regain the power she undoubtedly possessed as a dog one day, but she is not without affection, and her fortitude and will to survive enable her to maintain hope.
Share Khalessi’s tale and spread the message of respect for animals. This cruelty must go on.
As for those responsible for so much evil, I pray that this narrative and the photographs get their hands so that they can’t at least go to sleep in peace.
