One day, a concerned citizen called the police and reported the missing dog. He spotted the dog while sailing along the coast at Barnegat.
It was early in the morning, and when they received his call, they immediately rushed to his aid.
They drove there and saw a golden retriever about 75 yards from the shore. The officers managed to find him and rescue him with the help of a motorboat.
The officer said he looked very tired and hungry. They immediately placed him in a safe place and waited for the owners to appear.
But then it became clear why he ran away, the dog was just playing with the owners, when he suddenly got scared and ran deep into the forest.
The family began looking for him, but could not find him. For 2 weeks they searched for their dog, but could not find it, until one day joggers spotted it.
He was frightened of them and immediately jumped into the water, during which time he managed to swim 2 miles.
One of the officers said that the dog named Chuck was so happy to see his family again.
He was just glad to see them again. And the officers were very touched by their reunion.
