Dan O’Grady from Ohio State is a big animal lover. He always loved and helped his four-legged friends. One day on the road through Jacksonville, Dan noticed a small dog that was in very bad shape.
He, of course, did not even think about leaving him there, he turned off the highway and stopped to see what was wrong with him and how he could help him. He hoped that he saw him in time and it was not too late to save his life. He immediately decided without hesitation to do something for the dog.
It was a little Jack Russell Terrier who, as it turned out, had other plans. When Dan wanted to pick him up to help him and take him to the vet, the dog got up, barked and ran into the woods. Dan was very surprised but decided to follow him, because he thought that there must be something there.
And he was absolutely right, because he went after him and saw a small fluffy rabbit, which was probably abandoned with his terrier friend by their owners. The rabbit was in a very bad condition and was also very dirty and skinny.
Dan immediately decided that he had to help both of them. So he picked up the rabbit and the happy dog followed them to Dan’s truck. Dan soon gave the dog sandwiches and meat, and on the way he bought some salad for the rabbit, because he was also very hungry.
After that, he went with them to the shelter and found out that they could not keep a rabbit there, because they did not have such special conditions. They took only the terrier with them, and Dan took the rabbit with him and went with him on the long road back to Ohio.
There he found a shelter called the Summit County Animal Society where rabbits could be kept. They were very happy with their new guest. He made sure that the rabbit was already in good hands and went about his business with peace of mind.
We can’t even imagine what would have happened if it wasn’t for Dan, a truck driver with such a huge heart, who couldn’t get past a dog that needed people’s help. As for the terrier named Highway, he is already waiting for his new owner in Florida.
