A teenager jumped fearlessly into the river to save three girls and a police officer from drowning in the river

LIFE STORIES

One day a car with three girls inside crashed into the Pascagoula River in Mississippi around 2:30 am on the weekend of July 4th.

Fortunately, the 16-year-old boy was at the right time in the right place. The car went off the ramp, fell into the river, then swam about 20 feet from the shore and sank.

The driver of that car said she was following her GPS and was unaware she was walking on water.

It was then that Korion Evans took off his shirt, shoes, dropped his phone and jumped into the water. He could hear calls for help.

Evans has been swimming since the age of three, so he knew he had the skills to help.

He didn’t even hesitate. He just thought he couldn’t let any of them die. They needed to get out of the water, and he couldn’t even think of anything else.

Karon, her friend, also jumped in to help her get the girls onto the roof of the car. Arriving policeman Gary Mercer found them already in the water.

Mercer was pulling someone down, but she panicked and swallowed the water. Korion remembered how the policeman had fallen and shouted for help. He went to catch the policeman.

Mercer and the three girls were taken to the hospital and thankfully are doing well. He was 25 meters and had to swim a lot. Legs are so tired after this!

Moss Point goalie – Brandon Ashley praised Korion for his bravery and efforts. They praised Mr. Evans for his bravery and dedication at the risk of his own safety.

Ashley added that if not for Evan’s rescue efforts, they might have pulled them out of the water. The city authorities presented Korion with a letter of gratitude for his feat. Officials also praised Mercer for his “bravery in the rescue”.

Korion’s mother, Markita Evans, is proud of her son’s bravery and is grateful that everyone involved is safe. She is happy that her son survived, knowing how risky the rescue was.

Korion jumped up without hesitation and helped them escape. He never thought about himself, instead focusing on getting everyone out of the water.

Cora Watson is among the victims and she thanked Korion for his incredible act.

She wrote that this man saved her life shortly before her last breath. She wrote: “I am so grateful to him!”
