The happy Schmitz family lived in Des Moines: David, Brenda, and their four sons. Shortly after the birth of their last son, his wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Brenda began to spend the rest of her time with the children. He was very worried about what David would do after his death.

A few days before the new year, he received a call from one of the radio stations. They told him that he should go to their radio station to see their surprise.
David went there and found out that Brenda had prepared a birthday card for him two years ago and asked him to give it to him when David met another woman.
Big surprises awaited him there. She prepared a trip for her whole family, gifts for the doctors who treated him, as well as surprises for the children and for David’s new wife.
