Sanctuary of Miracles, a sanctuary like no other, opens its doors to the elderly and animals

ANIMALS

Agir pour la Vie Animale opened her new shelter about twenty kilometers from the first one, opened 36 years ago. This second shelter is based on a new concept in France as it welcomes not only domestic and farm animals but also people.

The President and Communications Manager have been waiting months for this unique project to take place in France. They recently opened their doors at Rouvre-Catillon in the Seine-Maritime, not far from the association’s first refuge.

It is “an unpublished concept for a family sanctuary designed for both animals and people.” One of the great things about this shelter is that it is also designed for the elderly, who can continue their lives peacefully and serenely next to the animals.

The AVA roommate is still in an experimental phase in this regard, with only one person living in it at the moment, but the goal is to allow other seniors and eco-volunteers to live there at the same time.

The resident in question, Maxime Leger, is the historical founder of the first AVA shelter. He was greeted in response to his desire to let this symbolic figure of the animal association and cause “let him stay safe with the animals.”

More generally, Dr. Bedossa hopes that the creation of this sanctuary will provide an opportunity for “those who want to continue to live well and age well with the animals they love” to older people from their pets and place them in nursing homes and other communities.

Dozens of animals are already in the new shelter. They all avoided euthanasia or slaughter for various reasons, in particular because they were no longer considered “useful”. They welcome dogs and cats, as well as farm, yard and ornamental animals: chickens, peacocks, goats, horses…

Among them is Laskar, a pony who retired after teaching young people how to ride at an equestrian center all his life.

And Roxanne is a female Yorkshire terrier whose owner decided to get a divorce because of the incompatibility of her lifestyle.

Now this adorable dog, full of energy, has everything it takes to let off steam and express himself freely. It is freedom that is the key word in this sanctuary, where there is neither a cage nor a box.

Animals of different species and people live here together and in harmony, enjoying the greenery on more than 3 hectares and everything necessary for their development. There is also an indoor heated pool where dogs can swim.
