Unable to live in the wild, this cougar became a house cat

A Russian couple shares their small apartment with a tall, eccentric companion. And besides being tall, the 90-pound cougar also has an interesting name. His name is Messi and he is one of the biggest names in football history. The family first saw the cougar at Saransk Zoo in Penza. He was only 8 months old then.

He was one of three cubs born at the zoo. The other two were also named after famous players in honor of the Russian. When he was only 3 months old, Messi was sold to the Saransk zoo, he had health problems.

They fell in love with the puma at first sight. So they decided to contact the zoo to buy it.  They always wondered if it was moral to keep a cougar and if it was reasonable to start it.

But nothing could resist their sudden desire. So they went to the zoo and started negotiations to buy Messi. They themselves were surprised when they accepted. Either way, caring for the cougar was a big deal for the family. Besides being a wild animal, the cougar also needed medical attention.

Like any other pet, Messi needed a lot of attention. The family bought him a special coat and harness to take him for a walk. He lives with them like a dog. They started to walk him, step by step. Previously, the animal was not particularly active, but now it walks twice a day, as expected.

But in the end, the couple found a dog training school. He convinced them by his behavior that he was a full member of our family and that he wouldn’t do anything wrong except little pranks. He is very nice and loves interacting with people.

Messi, puma is not a star only for his parents. He also has over 600,000 followers on Instagram and over 1,780,000 subscribers on YouTube!
