Originally coming to make a donation, this couple couldn’t leave the shelter without this 17-year-old dog

There is one very common phenomenon in shelters: when an old dog is picked up on the street or rescued, there is a good chance that no one else will adopt him.

This is how the story of Rocky began. He is over 17 years old and has been a permanent resident of the shelter since 2012.

He must have come to terms with the fact that he will never have a real family.

But soon his life changed!

One day a young couple came to the orphanage to donate the funds raised by the military community. Suddenly, the girl saw Rocky, who was walking around the territory, and something clicked inside her.

Beth, that’s her name, couldn’t stop thinking about the dog. She fell in love with Rocky at first sight and showed a desire to adopt him right away!

The first few days in the new home were very difficult for Rocky. During the years spent in the shelter, he forgot, or maybe never knew what it was like to be a pet.

The dog was confused, and before doing something, at first he looked into the girl’s eyes for a long time, as if asking: “Can I climb onto the sofa?”, “Can I gnaw it?”.

Several days have passed. Beth fed Rocky the best food, went for walks with him every day, bathed him well, scratched him for a long time and said kind words – and now a completely new dog!

Despite his considerable age, the dog has a second wind. He became quite active, constantly runs and does not leave his mistress for a second:

The girl admitted that she was missing something in her life, and for a long time she could not understand what exactly, until she first looked into the eyes of the “red-haired old man” with kind eyes.

Beth posted a photo of Rocky on her Facebook page and wrote very touching words addressed to the pet under it:

“I know you need more care than younger dogs. I know the day will come when you won’t be able to stand the street or climb the stairs.

You may soon lose your hearing and vision – I will have to travel with you often to the vet and spend a lot of money.

And I realize that one day the time will come to say goodbye to you. But until then – you are the best gift that fate has given me!

I’m sorry I didn’t find you sooner. But I promise that now you will have a better life with different goodies, games, picnics and adventures.”
