No one can tell what life was like for the little pony named Tobias, but the scars on his body and the sadness in his eyes suggest that he did not know warmth, kindness or love at all.
Kirk Hans recently moved to a small farm together to have more space for the animals they rescued. So they decided to get horses.
In search of a large pet, Kirk came across an auction site where unwanted horses were sold at the lowest price, and if no one bought them, they were sent to slaughter.
Kirk was shocked. He did not even think that such sites exist, and people can be so cruel to their charges.
The man shared his “discovery” with his wife. They scrolled through the site and came across a little pony who looked so sad that their hearts just sank.
If by the end of that day no one would have acquired this horse, then he would have been taken to the fight. The couple immediately bought Tobias and along with his adult companion. The animals were very shy.
It was evident that they were being treated with disdain, and little Tobias looked especially depressed. His ears were flattened, he did not raise his head and all the time looked sadly at the ground.
After a couple of days, Tobias allowed Kirk to approach him. The man stood nearby for a while, and then began to gently stroke the pony’s mane to demonstrate calmness and care.
Such a simple gesture had a profound effect on Tobias. The kid approached his master and put his head on his shoulder. These sweet hugs lasted for several minutes. Finally, the pony was able to relax and feel safe.
